Ghee & It’s Many Benefits

They don’t call it liquid gold for nothing! Ghee has been used for thousands of years as a staple in Ayurvedic healing practices and is one of the most powerful healing foods out there. It is full of fat-soluble vitamins and healthy fatty acids and its benefits include building stronger bones, improving digestion and enhancing weight loss.

Ghee is made by heating butter to remove the milk solids. By doing that it means it is lactose and casein free so suitable for those who are sensitive to dairy. Ghee can be very expensive to buy but you can easily make it at home for a fraction of the price. Just pop some grass fed butter into a dish in the oven for a couple of hours then strain through a muslin cloth into your jars.

So why ghee?

💛 Higher smoke point than most oils.
💛 Packed with fat-soluble vitamins such as A, E and K, which play a role in everything from maintaining healthy vision to keeping your skin glowing.
💛 Free of Lactose and Casein.
💛 Contains Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), a fatty acid associated with reducing body fat, preventing cancer formation, alleviating inflammation and even lowering blood pressure.
💛 Loaded with butyrate (or butyric acid), a short-chain fatty acid that plays a central role in gut health by promoting a healthy microbiome. Some studies suggest that it may help support healthy insulin levels, fight inflammation, and provide relief for individuals suffering from conditions like Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis. Butyric acid is also made by the gut flora when you eat fibre and is a primary source of energy for the cells in your colon.
💛 Butyrate provides energy for the cells in the colon which helps to support gut barrier function, improve digestion and fight off inflammation.
💛 Vitamin K helps to strengthen your bones and is essential to many aspects of health, such as blood clotting, heart health and brain function.
💛 The medium-chain fatty acids found in fats like ghee and coconut oil have been shown to boost fat burning and assist with weight loss.

Oh, and the flavour is amazing! What’s not to love 💛💛💛

Ghee can be quite expensive to buy but it’s actually really simple to make. Check out how easy it is below…
