Herbal Teas.

The History of Tea.

The origin of tea is shrouded in mystery! From Chinese emperors to Portuguese princesses, it is an ancient ritual that dates back many centuries.

Most believe that tea drinking originated in Southwest China and, as tea spread along the Silk Road, it was introduced into Europe and is today embraced by many cultures around the world.

The Ritual of Tea Making.

I have always loved the ritual of tea making! I have many fond childhood memories of enjoying a cup of tea with my Nan and Grandad, lovingly poured from their stainless teapot which I still have today! My Grandad would turn it clockwise, then anti-clockwise before pouring it, but he would never just pour! He would pour a bit, pull the teapot back, pour a bit more …

My mum always tells me the story of her Grandad too. He used to pour a big mug of strong tea and just slurp it! I love these stories and I love that whenever I make a cup of tea, I pause to reflect on them.

Making time for a tea ritual helps you to be more present and mindful. It can completely shift your level of consciousness during the day and really help you to relax!

Benefits of Tea.

Herbal teas made from dried flowers, leaves, fruits and spices are not only deliciously relaxing, they have many therapeutic properties and loads of nutritional value. Herbal teas contain antioxidants and polyphenols, which are wonderfully anti-inflammatory and can support your heart, brain and digestive health while also reducing oxidative stress that contributes to ageing and illness.
